4 Filipino Mathletes Reap Awards in 13th China Girls Mathematical Olympiad

The Philippine Team represented by the four young girls reaps award in a prestigious 13th China Girls Mathematical Olympiad held from August 10-14, 2014.

These four girls competed against 37 other teams around the world. Among those countries are United States of America, China, Singapore, Iran, UK, North Korea, Bulgaria., etc.

Kelsey Lim Tiong Soon from Grace Christian College and Andrea Jessica Jaba won the Silver medal while Isabella Mae Tan and Isabel Jocyn Villanueva from St. Jude Catholic School and PAREF Woodrose School respectively won Bronze Medal.

China Girls Mathematical Olympiad is a proof-based olympiad like IMO was first organized in China in 2002. It is a national competition for group of girls from different regions in China. Later, they decided to make the competition open and send invitations to different countries.

The Philippine team has been winning a lot of awards this year. During the 55th International Mathematical Olympiad held in Cape Town, South Africa in July, Adrian Reginald Sy of St. Jude Catholic School won the second silver medal of the Philippines in IMO.
