The official Facebook page of Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO) announced the schedule of this year’s contest. So Math Olympians, better mark your calendar with the following dates.
The qualifying tage which is a multiple choice written exam will be held on October 11, 2014 in all testing centers nationwide.
Qualifiers will advance to the area stage of the competition on November 15, 2014. The best and the brightest wizards that qualifies to National finals will compete on January 24, 2015.
National finalists has a chance to be a part of Philippine Team that will represent the country in 56th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) that will be held at Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Last year’s national champion of 16th PMO was Matthew Tan who won a Bronze medal in the recently concluded 55th IMO. He was followed by Adrian Reginald Sy who also won the lone silver medal from the same competition. Both are students of St. Jude Catholic School.
PMO is the country’s oldest and most challenging Mathematics competition. It is being organized by Mathematical Society of the Philippines in partnership with Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute.
